Taking a sign down is the easy half

Anybody with a lift can get a cabinet off a wall. The part that decides whether the job was done properly is what is left behind — the bolt holes, the ghosting where the sign shaded the paint, the conduit stub, the raceway, the patch.

Most removal quotes cover the takedown and stop there. Then the landlord inspects, finds a row of holes and a rectangle of clean paint on a dirty wall, and somebody pays twice.

We quote the removal and the make-good together, because they are the same job. Tell us whether the wall needs to pass an inspection and we will price it accordingly rather than guess.

What we take down

Boom lift removing a pole sign cabinet in Texas

Pole & Pylon Signs

Cabinet off the pole, or the whole structure out of the ground including the footing where the site requires it. Needs a lift and often a traffic plan, so we survey before quoting. If the pole is staying and only the face is wrong, a flex face is usually far cheaper than removal.

Storefront sign being taken down from a building elevation

Storefront & Wall Signs

Cabinets, panel signs, dimensional and lit letters, raceways. The usual tenant-turnover job. Bolt holes filled, raceway removed, wall patched and touched in so the elevation reads clean.

Monument sign removal at a commercial property in Fort Bend County

Monument & Ground Signs

Faces, cabinets or the whole monument including masonry. Often the tenant panel is all that needs changing — we will say so rather than quote you a demolition.

Removal & Replace

Most removals are really changeovers. Doing both in one visit means one lift hire, one crew and one trip — usually cheaper than two separate jobs, and the frontage is never blank for long.

Three things that change the price

Access

Can a lift get to it? A sign over a footpath, a drive-through lane or a live car park costs more than one over open ground, because of the traffic plan rather than the sign.

What the wall needs

Holes filled is one price. Patched, sanded and painted to pass a landlord inspection is another. Tell us which before we quote.

Disposal

A lit cabinet is not general waste. Hauling and disposal is part of the quote, not a surprise afterwards.

Send a photo of the sign and the building and we can usually quote from that without a site visit.

Landlords, agents and property managers

Turnovers are most of this work. A tenant leaves, the frontage still says their name, and the unit shows badly until it comes off.

We work directly with managers across Fort Bend and Brazoria — removal, make-good, and a covering banner over the cabinet if the unit is going back on the market before a new sign exists. For portfolios we price per site rather than re-quoting each time. See property management signs and for lease signs.

How a removal runs

01

Photo or survey

Send photos of the sign and the elevation. Most jobs quote from that; larger ones get a site visit.

02

Quote

Removal, make-good and disposal priced together so there is no second invoice.

03

Takedown

Sign down, fixings out, raceway and conduit dealt with, wall patched.

04

Haul & tidy

Old sign removed from site and disposed of. Frontage left ready for whatever is next.

Common questions

How much does sign removal cost?

It depends on access more than size. A wall cabinet reachable from a ladder is a small job. A high pole sign over a live car park needs a lift and a traffic plan and costs considerably more. Send a photo and we will give you a real number rather than a range.

Do you repair the wall afterwards?

Yes, and we quote it with the removal. Bolt holes filled as standard; patching and painting to pass a landlord inspection is priced separately because the standard varies. Tell us which you need.

Can you remove a sign that still has power to it?

The electrical disconnection is coordinated with a licensed electrician rather than done in house. We handle the sign; the supply is isolated properly first.

What happens to the old sign?

We haul it away and dispose of it. If you want it kept — some businesses keep the letters — say so and we will take it down accordingly rather than cut it up.

Do I need to remove the sign, or can the face be changed?

Very often the cabinet is fine and only the face is wrong. Replacing a face or fitting a new flex face costs a fraction of removal and replacement. We will tell you which applies before quoting the bigger job.

How fast can you get to it?

Turnovers are usually urgent and we treat them that way. Call with the address and we will tell you honestly when a crew and a lift can be there.
